Biddle and Webb’s 12th November Interiors auction will include the bespoke creations of Birmingham born inventor Peter Morrison.
Peter Morrison – an accomplished designer and entrepreneur, created his first product in 1999: The Technical Development Ring for grass roots football development. In both 2003 and 2004 Peter consecutively won British inventor of the year Platinum Award. In 2005, he went on to present the Technical Development Ring on the popular TV show – Dragons Den.
Peter has also developed carbon-saving conservational technology such as the award winning Leaf Log.
After years of designing products and services, Peter is now focusing on his true passion: turning unwanted items into unique pieces of art furniture. Recently featured on Biddle and Webb’s weekly video blog, Mr Morrison explains ““It has always been my ambition to design bespoke pieces of furniture that can also be viewed as art”. Several of Peter’s designs have been exhibited at the British Ironwork Centre, Oswestry.
Biddle and Webb are pleased to feature three pieces of Peter’s reclaimed and reformed furniture in our 12th November Interiors sale. The designs include: a revolving stool constructed from a washing machine drum, a chromed cocktail table fused with engine parts, and a metal floor lamp with integrated shelving unit.
Peter’s furniture is reflective of his creative ambition to reconfigure the relationship between functionality and design. Bold, unconventional and definitely not your ‘everyday’ – Peter looks to redesign the status quo: taking old things and turning them into something new.
Think of it as innovative up-cycling with a steampunk twist!
